Progress and Memories

I am sitting here in my Halloween costume. I have decided to go as myself four years ago–a hopeful graduate student of Creative Writing. As I go back through my progress since then, I am pleased to say that my hope has turned into a few tangible things, this website included. I mean, for shitssake, I was a finalist this year for the Loft Mentor Series¬†and had a chapbook come out.

So, as I am wrapping up edits on my first full-length memoir collection and going through the usual stages of doubt, confusion and dysphoria I can remember that shiny grad student with her two suitcases and a dream and know that she is closer to achieving that dream. And, I’ll keep marching toward it in my Chucks, red lipstick, jeans (and everything else against the dress code of my big girl job).
