Emily Urness has a an MFA in creative writing from the University of British Columbia (2011). She has taught memoir writing in a variety of venues including the Loft Literary Center. She has also worked as an editorial staff member for several literary publications including Spout Press and PRISM International. Her chapbook Self Help Attempts was published by Red Bird Chapbooks (2013). She recently was awarded a McKnight Established Artist grant to work on her first full-length memoir collection. She was a 2013-2014 finalist for the Loft Literary Center’s Mentor Series. Currently, she is a college instructor.
